Controlled Burns:

Please contact one of the following BEFORE starting a controlled burn:

• Ellendale Fire Protection District - Fire Chief
• Dickey County Emergency Manager
• Dickey County Sheriff's Office

All of the entities listed above work together in the event of a controlled burn.  By contacting just one of these agencies, each will be informed through internal messaging. 

Please have the following information available when you call:

1. Name of person conducting controlled burn
2. Phone number of person conducting the burn
3. Location of burn
4. What will be burning

Please note: If the Rangeland Fire Index is in the Very High or Extreme level, or if a Red Flag Warning has been issued, open burning is not permitted (see Dickey County Burn Ban link at upper right of page).  We also ask that you consult the weather forecast to determine if weather conditions will be in your favor throughout the next day or more to minimize the chance for re-ignition.
